10 Year Old buses entry to Saudi Arabia is banned
The transport authorities in Saudi Arabia has denied the entry of 10 year-old non Saudi buses. The ban came into effect from Thursday, 25th September, for buses aged above 10 years from the date of manufacture, and carrying passengers and cargo, into the territory of Saudi Arabia.
Brigadier Ghaith Hassan Al Zaabi, Director-General of Traffic Coordination at the Ministry of Interior, said, “The conditions and instructions for the exercise of passenger transport by bus into the territory of Saudi Arabia, specified the life span of a bus to be no more than 10 years from the date of manufacture so as to ensure road users safety”, calling on bus owners to adhere to the new regulations issued by the competent authorities in Saudi Arabia to avoid legal accountability.
He also noted that the Directorate of Traffic Coordination has addressed the traffic and patrol departments nationwide to inform the bus owners and drivers about the ban order, reiterating that the Saudi authorities would not allow the entry of such buses.
Brig. Al Zaabi also said that the Directorate also addressed the licensing departments of vehicles and drivers not to issue certificates to buses aged above 10 years old that pass through the Saudi Arabia territories, urging the Islamic Affairs and Endowments to alert the owners of Hajj campaigns to follow with the decision.
